Dear Brothers,

As I sit down to write this piece for our newsletter, I'm reminded of the powerful journey of our brother Casey, whose courageous battle against the shadow of cancer and his inspiring 4,000-mile bike ride for a cause left an indelible mark on our hearts and our fraternity's legacy. While my story may not tread the same heroic path, it's a testament to the enduring spirit of Phi Gamma Delta and the bonds that hold us together, even in the most challenging times.

After graduation, my life took unexpected turns, and soon, I found myself at a crossroads with nowhere to turn. In this moment of uncertainty, I reached out to the fraternity that had shaped much of my collegiate life. Without a second thought, my brothers welcomed me back into the frat house, a gesture that spoke volumes of the brotherhood we share.

However, returning wasn't without its challenges. The pandemic had left its mark, breeding a culture of neglect and disregard for our once-proud home. Responsibilities had fallen by the wayside, and the house that once buzzed with energy and camaraderie was now a shadow of its former self. It was clear that something needed to change.

Drawing inspiration from Casey's legacy of turning fear into action, I decided to lead by example. I began with the basics - mopping floors, washing dishes, and slowly instilling a sense of pride and responsibility back into our living space. It was my way of giving back to the fraternity that had given me so much. To my surprise and relief, this small act of initiative sparked a change. Brothers began to take notice and, more importantly, take action.

What started as a one-man mission soon turned into a collective endeavor. The house was abuzz with ideas and projects, each one breathing new life into our beloved home. From the installation of a DJ booth to the laying of turf, the creation of a hang-out room to the addition of a pool table, every new feature added a layer to our fraternity's story.

Game nights became a staple, turning our house into a vibrant hub of laughter, competition, and camaraderie. The dark, neglected corners were now filled with light and life, a testament to what we can achieve when we come together. The house had transformed, and so had we. We were no longer just a group of individuals living under the same roof; we were a brotherhood, united in purpose and strengthened by our shared experiences.

As I reflect on this journey, I am reminded of the ethos of Phi Gamma Delta - that it is not for college days alone. Our brotherhood is a lifelong commitment, a bond that extends beyond the walls of our fraternity house and the years we spend within them. We are a family, and like any family, we thrive on support, understanding, and a shared vision for a better future.

So, to my brothers, I say this: Let us continue to build on the legacy that those before us have laid. Let us strive for excellence, not just in our personal endeavors but in how we care for each other and the space we share. Let us remember that every act of kindness, every initiative to improve, and every moment spent together adds up to a greater collective experience.

We are proud of what we have achieved, but let us not rest on our laurels. There is always more to be done, more to improve, and more ways to support one another. Let us move forward with the same spirit of brotherhood and determination that has brought us this far.

EXCITING NEWS!

New Things on the Horizon

With a quickly growing chapter comes even more quickly growing ambitions, and this year, we are excited to share that the Delta Chi Chapter of FIJI is hosting its first ever Island Week! Hosted towards the end of the spring quarter, Island Week will be in support of the United Service Organization (USO), a nonprofit organization that aids veterans in need. Island Week will include participating organizations engaging in exciting events and activities concluding in a beach volleyball tournament at the end of the Week! Additionally, we will be having our first ever formals, including an award ceremony to commemorate the achievements of brothers. We hope to make it a yearly tradition!
